Reservoir Characterization

Lateral and Vertical Characterization

Development of 4D earth models to identify ideal landing zones, previously undetectable frac barriers and regional sweet spots.

As lateral sections of the well are drilled, different sections of formation are cut and measured. Using clever litho-stacking techniques, Fracture ID’s data is partitioned to deliver pseudo vertical results as you move away from the pad.  This allows tops of depositional packages to be picked and better depositional models created.

In the Woodford example to the left, the blue and red lines indicate top and bottom of section and the black line indicates the well path. By breaking the data into sections which traverse rock sections (1-4) four pseudo vertical sections were derived showing small variations as you move along the formation. For comparison, a near by vertical wireline result is plotted.
